This image is always thought provoking as we all genuinely go into panic mode when we see this on our phones but totally neglect the signs that our own batteries are running low.
Don’t underestimate the importance of rest & nutrition for a young athlete. These bits allow them to cash in on the benefits of all the hard work they are putting in.
Training is the catalyst for change but if the rest and fuel around it aren’t right, the change won’t be in a positive direction.
The nutrition bit doesn’t have to be complicated. We are always saying this, it’s boring, but don’t neglect the basics. If you do the basics to an elite level then you're doing a great job. (Also, remember we are human not perfect, a young athlete's diet doesn't have to be perfect and something is still better than nothing so don’t let them be hard on themselves
