Oat muesli bars: perfect grab and go training fuel
Ingredients
- 150g porridge oats
- 150g no added sugar muesli
- 100g plant-based spread
- 100g soft brown sugar
- 2/3 tbsp golden syrup (this helps to stick the bars together and make them more portable)
- A handful of raisins or sultanas
- Pinch of cinnamon
- A drop of vanilla or caramel essence
- Melted chocolate (for drizzling at the end)
- Preheat oven to 180C. Grease a 20cm square baking tin with a little oil or spread or use cupcake cases
- Mix the oats, muesli, raisins & cinnamon together in a large bowl
- Melt the sugar, golden syrup, spread and vanilla essence in a pan on a gentle heat until dissolved.
- Pour the contents of the pan into the bowl and mix well.
- Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
- Drizzle with melted chocolate (if desired)
- Cool then slice into bars
- Keep them in an airtight container - don't forget to grab one before you leave the house!
