Oat muesli bars: perfect grab and go training fuel

  • 150g porridge oats
  • 150g no added sugar muesli
  • 100g plant-based spread
  • 100g soft brown sugar
  • 2/3 tbsp golden syrup (this helps to stick the bars together and make them more portable)
  • A handful of raisins or sultanas
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • A drop of vanilla or caramel essence
  • Melted chocolate (for drizzling at the end)
  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease a 20cm square baking tin with a little oil or spread or use cupcake cases
  2. Mix the oats, muesli, raisins & cinnamon together in a large bowl
  3. Melt the sugar, golden syrup, spread and vanilla essence in a pan on a gentle heat until dissolved.
  4. Pour the contents of the pan into the bowl and mix well. 
  5. Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
  6. Drizzle with melted chocolate (if desired)
  7. Cool then slice into bars
  8. Keep them in an airtight container - don't forget to grab one before you leave the house!
